We’re looking for an experienced Design leader who is excited to grow, lead and hire a team of high performing Product Designers as they shape modern dating across our Product groups: Core Experience, Growth and Trust & Safety. We call ourselves the “Dating app that’s designed to be deleted,” which speaks to our focus on helping intentional daters get off the app and into meaningful relationships. This role should champion the practice of human-centered design at Hinge. You will report directly to our CPO and will work with our Head of Research to define the product strategy and holistic vision of the user experience. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the problem area, bold and creative in their thinking, and strategic and organized in their approach. In this role you will be guiding a team of designers, set up the systems and processes to increase the teams’ effectiveness and impact, and sometimes even roll up your sleeves to work on some of the hardest of problems. Designing for connection – both online and IRL – is a rare opportunity and requires an empathetic leader who wants to get to the heart of the problem. Responsibilities: Create and drive Hinge’s strategy for product design – align and collaborate with key partners to ensure the vision helps deliver on company goals. Partner with CPO to create a winning and compelling product vision and strategy. Hire, grow and lead a team of designers, design managers and UX writers. Create clear paths for their future success and impact by providing insight, guidance, inspirations and mentorship to the team. Lead the design team throughout the entirety of the design process Lead design operational needs and processes such that the team can work smoothly with cross-functional partners Guarantee the overall quality of design output and its contribution to business objectives Ensure that we are crafting an inclusive and accessible product to be able to fulfill our mission of providing “love for all” Communicate design principles that provide strategic direction Ensure that research (both quant and qual) is integrated into all product development efforts and enforce iterative design thinking Proactively assess UX risks, raise flags and resolve issues before they become bigger problems Requirements: 10+ years of combined ux and design experience as part of a product dev team 3+ year experience managing designers and teams. Deep understanding of user-centered design methods related to mobile products Clear communication skills and storytelling abilities Proven track record of designing user-friendly features that help the company achieve business goals Expert level knowledge of Figma Systems thinking, problem solving abilities and critical thinking skills required Deep understanding of user-centered design methods related to mobile products Our Company: Hinge is the dating app designed to be deleted.
