Job Description

Mission: The Legacy Steering Group (LSG) was founded in 2019 and consists of city partners, individuals and organisations. The LSG is currently chaired by Deputy Mayor Councillor Asher Craig, led by an Executive Group representative of Afrikan Heritage Communities in Bristol. The LSG is coordinated by the Black South West Network, and sits within the Culture and Creative Industries Department in Bristol City Council. The purpose of the LSG is to provide advice and strategic direction to Bristol City Council concerning the legacy of the Transatlantic Trafficking of Enslaved Africans (TTEA) and associated projects and programmes. The LSG began with a community consultation with local Afrikan Heritage Communities in the form of Project T.R.U.T.H (Telling Restoring Understanding our Tapestry and History), where respondents felt that there had not been a significant acknowledgement of Afrikan Heritage Communities%E2%80%99 contribution and sacrifice within Bristol. Objectives: The Legacy Steering Group aims to establish a strong and compelling brand identity that reflects its mission, values, and vision while considering its context of providing advice and strategic direction to Bristol City Council concerning the legacy of the Transatlantic Trafficking of Enslaved Africans (TTEA) and associated projects and programmes. The primary objectives of the brand identity design are as follows:Reflect Afrikan Heritage Communities in Bristol: Develop a brand identity that honours and celebrates the rich heritage and contributions of Afrikan Heritage Communities in Bristol.Incorporate the Pempamsie Symbol: Integrate the Pempamsie symbol, representing strength, unity, and the knot of readiness, into the brand identity as a key visual element.Establish a Distinctive Identity: Create a unique and recognisable brand identity that sets the Legacy Steering Group apart from other organisations and effectively represents its purpose and connection to the TTEA legacy.Engage and Inspire Stakeholders: Create a brand identity that resonates with stakeholders, including Afrikan Heritage Community members and partner organisations, and inspires their involvement and support for memorialisation-related projects and programmes.Flexibility and Consistency: Design a brand identity that is versatile enough to be applied across various mediums and channels while maintaining consistency and visual coherence. Deliverables: - Logo Design - Colour Palette - Typography - Social media assets - Brand guidelines - Brand applications - Landing page. We are flexible to negotiating on the budget.
