Job Description
The Team The goal of the Marketing & Communications team is to raise Alight’s brand awareness and differentiate Alight in the eyes of our customers, partners, and funders so that we can further our impact with displaced people around the globe. You’re joining a small but mighty team of marketing and communications professionals (Senior Graphic Designer, Digital Social Media Specialist, Marketing Coordinator etc.) that are looking to share Alight’s story with the world. The Role Based in your chosen location, you’ll be guided by and receive support from the Marketing & Communications Director. Simply put, you are a great writer and storyteller, comfortable working across a range of mediums, from long-form blog posts to punchy campaign copy to concise press releases. This role will help shape Alight’s voice and presence in the world. You’ll know you’re doing well if the stories you write about Alight’s work and people inspire external audiences. You will help your colleagues turn their ideas and projects into editorial stories that communicate how Alight builds a meaningful life with and for the displaced. Building a shared organization takes time and intention. We will always be becoming Alight, which means your work will evolve as well. For now, here’s how you could anticipate spending your time: Writing & Editing – 50 % of time Lead Alight’s storytelling across multiple channels – from website case studies to Op-Eds to pitch decks - you help people across the organization tell Alight’s stories in the most compelling way possible. Provide proofreading, writing and editing support to your colleagues – helping support the creation of communication materials such as fact sheets, presentations, reports, and other external facing assets. Manage and write conference and award submissions on behalf of Alight that build credibility for the organization. Content Management- 30% of time Build and maintain relationships with a network of contacts across Alight who you can turn to for the latest updates and information from their teams. You’ll make the voices and information you gather even more powerful by organizing and sharing it with colleagues in a way that’s accessible. Ensure consistency in how we capture, track and archive stories and stats about Alight’s work Collaborate with teams across the organization to ensure brand consistency across all external-facing communications and contribute to the evolution of the brand language guidelines Serve as a point person for Alight’s published brand materials, managing translations if required Speakers Support – 10% Act as the liaison between the Marketing & Communications team and Alight’s 15 speakers in the Fresh Speakers Bureau (public speakers training) New or Interesting Projects/Progressive Responsibilities – 10 % Lean into the things you love and spark your interest, within or outside your team. We need you to honor the work that you’ve committed to doing, but also know that when you are unleashed, so are we. Note: Given the nature of Alight’s work, sometimes it’s ALL HANDS ON DECK. Bring your team spirit and willingness to pitch in where you’re needed in extraordinary circumstances. Anticipated travel – 10 % (domestic & international)
