SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Develops and maintains marketing calendar and production timelines for advertising and promotions based on Museum priorities. Produces creative briefs detailing the scope, purpose, and desired outcome of marketing campaigns and creative concepts and ideas for print, video, and digital marketing campaigns based on Museum priorities and targeted audiences. Campaigns include messaging, goals, objectives, timelines, campaign budget and metrics. Serves as coordinator for all CHSDM advertising; collects and evaluates relevant and pertinent advertising rates and negotiates rates favorable to the museum. Participates in budgets determinations for marketing and advertising campaigns establishing guidelines for contractors, vendors, media buys, production, printing, and collateral. Oversee management of email marketing program and strategy including audience list segmentation and marketing campaigns. In partnership with the Communications & Marketing team, determine optimal email calendar, as well as segmented, retargeting and triggered email campaigns. Manage data-driven aspects of email marketing campaigns end-to-end, including audience segmentation and targeting, set-up, deployment, reporting, and ongoing testing and optimization. Fields and manages internal marketing requests and prepares and manages service agreements with external vendors and consultants. Prepares presentations and reports with proofreading and proposal layout and coordinating, charts, graphs, content and images for marketing projects, edits reports, proposals and meeting materials. Ensures brand guidelines and style guides and brand assets are available to all Museum staff and contractors; works closely with museum curators, registrars, and specialists to assemble background materials that can be used for historical documentation, marketing promotional collateral, and signage for marketing and promotional campaigns. Develops project scopes and objectives and ensures technical feasibility, resource availability and resource allocation. Develops a detailed project plan to track progress and keeps all departments apprised with regular project status updates including timelines, milestones, risks, issues, and budget expenditures. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Resume should address the following qualification requirements. Experience and knowledge of museum, cultural or historical institutions or in an organization, performing marketing and communications duties. Proven in-depth experience developing and/or implementing and evaluating marketing materials, strategies and advertising media buys, producing and managing marketing campaigns for and about design, art, and culture seeking audiences, constituencies or communities. Experience and knowledge of print design and production techniques, image and copyright issues, and ability to write and edit informational materials. Experience in media strategy and print, digital, broadcast and outdoor media buying sufficient to disseminate information about museum exhibitions, programs, and other activities to the general public through purchased print, broadcast, and online media. Experience using email marketing platforms like Wordfly or Mailchimp. Highly skilled in in project planning and program management sufficient to sustain execution and management of a diverse range of administrative functions in support of the museum. Demonstrated ability in analytical and evaluative methods to select and apply techniques to evaluate program effectiveness, accomplishments and deficiencies to assure the long-term interest, objectives, and priorities of the organization. Demonstrated skill in written communication sufficient to produce promotional materials (e.g., online marketing features, email marketing, feature stories, photos/captions, and digital videos). Skill in oral communication. This position will also require: Occasional evenings and weekend work. SALARY RANGE: $76,961 to $79,526 The Smithsonian uses the General Schedule (GS) pay scale for Trust and Federally funded positions. This is a Trust funded position at Grade 11 / Step 1 – 2. TEMPORARY TRUST APPOINTMENT: One-year full-time appointment that may be extended beyond the one year (based on performance and budget). DUTY STATION: The permanent duty station is 2 East 91st Street, New York, NY 10128 This position allows for hybrid work as approved by position Supervisor.
