Job Description
As part of the Housing Information & Marketing team, responsible for conceiving, creating, and producing promotional, educational, and informational photo and video products that support the operations and activities of University Housing. These promotional communications help University Housing achieve and maintain full occupancy in residence halls and apartments as well as contribute to increasing meal plan sales. Support the operations and activities of University Housing, as well as enrich its visual identity. Showcase the broad scope of University Housing including dining halls, boutique restaurants, graduate student and family housing, undergraduate housing, facilities, human resources, student groups, events, and more. All University Housing staff will engage and contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within University Housing. Duties & Responsibilities -Create video and photo content including informational videos, social media shorts, virtual tours, interviews, story vignettes, social media features, live content, and more. -Record material for content using video cameras and still cameras. -Set up photo and video shoots including lighting, sound, and other technical details. -Capture a variety of photo and video content as needed. -Video and Photo Post-production -Build and maintain a photo/video library for University Housing with a diverse array of images suited for print and digital design use, social media, web pages, and more. -Prepare and edit photos for use in a variety of digital and print materials. -Perform photo and video editing using appropriate software. -Prepare video for multi-media formats including web, social media, and other digital distribution. -Ensure that all videos meet the needs of audiences of varying of ability by using captioning and other accessible techniques. -Collaborate with clients and stakeholders for revisions as needed. -Gather and propose ideas and topics for videos and photo shoots that communicate the brand promise of University Housing. -Identify new photo and video projects that meet the needs of University Housing’s audiences. -Help to find and showcase compelling stories that meet University Housing brand goals. -Set and maintain a production schedule prior to shoot. -Schedule, arrange, and plan video and photo shoots as required. -Track photo and video analytics; use results to inform future concepts. -Recruit, mentor, and train student photo and video interns. -Be informed on and implement University of Illinois brand guidelines. -Maintain office photo and video equipment. -Stay current on the latest video trends. -Support the array of general marketing activities including but not limited to assisting with events, web initiatives, photography, videography, social media, events, and other diverse duties. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in film/video production, cinematography, radio and television, documentary film production, photojournalism, communications, marketing, graphic design, or a closely related field to the position. One (1) year of professional work experience in areas including video production, marketing, communications, public relations, non-linear video editing, motion graphics, video lighting, composition, camera operation, photography, graphic design, audio recording, or a closely related professional area. Preferred Qualifications • 3+ years of experience in photo and/or video work. • Experience with planning and producing photo/video shoots and completing all post-production processing. • Experience in marketing, communications, video, or photo production for higher education. • Experience with equipment, tools, and supplies used in the taking, processing, enhancing, and use of photographs and videos including various cameras/lenses, image processing software and types of lighting. • Experience teaching photo and video principles.
