The Department of Design Media Arts (DMA) within the UCLA School of Arts and Architecture invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position within the department of Design Media Arts. We seek candidates who have a demonstrated expertise and international profile in design and/or media arts, or the ability to achieve one. We are searching for a new colleague with a focus on media arts, media design/visual communication, and text on screen. We’re interested in practitioners who work in the areas of social, environmental, and/or disability activism. Other foci may include but are not limited to: digital publishing, design and the internet, typography and code, narrative. We value non-traditional and experimental approaches to the expanded fields of media arts and design as well as the capacity to teach studio classes at a high level. DMA is looking for a colleague with a commitment to working in social, critical, and cultural spaces, and who believes in community building, curation, and organizing. We prioritize diversity, accessibility and accountability. We expect that this position will attract teachers/practitioners who center disability rights, who have deep commitments to social, climate and environmental issues, and who manifest their passions and their craft within the realms of media arts, media design, and visual communication.
