Job Description
The Yale Dramatic Association is looking to hire a Lighting Designer for our Fall 2023 production of Fiddler on the Roof. The Lighting Designer will work closely with a professional director and a team of student technical leads to foster a supportive learning environment. The show will run for five performances from November 15th-18th, 2023 in the University Theater which is a 640-seat venue on the campus of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The salary for the Designer is $2,400 and a housing stipend. Auditions and rehearsals will take place in early September. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until April 23, 2023. Those interested in applying should submit a current designing resume as well as a 1-2 page proposal addressing your interest in designing Fiddler on the Roof, a bit of information about yourself/your background, why you’re interested in working with students, any specific artistic visions you’ve crafted for the show, and any other information you’d like to include. The Yale University Dramatic Association (the Dramat) is an undergraduate organization at Yale College that operates as a student-run, non-profit production company. The organization produces six shows each academic year and is maintained by its Executive Board, made up of eleven students who collectively serve as the Dramat’s artistic and managing directors. We are particularly interested in working with designers that are part of marginalized communities in an effort to adhere to our Plan for an Anti-Racist and Caring Community. Those interested should contact producer Ryan Pascal at ms1@yaledramat.org to apply.
