Job Description

Help bring a bold and inspiring personal brand to life online. I'm looking for a talented and thoughtful designer with website building know-how to help me launch my personal website and online presence. It’s not a huge job – but it is a meaningful one. This is more than just a portfolio site. It's a digital home for three interconnected expressions of my work – creative, cultural, and corporate – each with their own flavour, but rooted in one consistent brand. I've got the essentials: logo, brand colours, fonts and a clear vision. What I need now is someone to help shape it into a vibrant, intuitive website that I can update and grow on my own terms. 💡 What the site will hold: ---> MBBW (Movements of a Bad Black Woman): My creative practice – from life modelling and voice work, to movement-based workshops and storytelling. This space showcases how I explore Blackness, queerness, embodiment, art and change. ---> BBM (Bad Black Movements): A change-making storytelling project that reimagines protest and transformation through African utopias, speculative fiction, and modern-day fables – expanding into illustrated comics and collaborative storytelling. ---> MBBWConsults: My strategy and transformation work with organisations, helping teams be more human, more imaginative and more ready for real change – often drawing on my creative and cultural practice. I started building the site on Squarespace (though I admit I haven't gotten very far) – and so I’m open to other platforms if you can make a good case for it - the key however is that I should be able to update and run the website on my own when the work is complete. 🛠️ Who I’m looking for: You don’t need to be an agency or a big studio – I’m looking for an independent creative or small team who: --- Are proficient in building beautiful, responsive websites (Squarespace, Webflow, Wix, etc.) --- Understand the basics of backend setup (domains, navigation, light CMS work, maybe a little SEO) --- Have strong visual design and UX instincts – you know how to make a site feel easy, intuitive and aligned with the vibe --- Are comfortable working with brand assets (logos, fonts, colour palettes) and tools like Canva, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite --- Can take clear direction but also act as a creative partner – offering advice and pushing ideas forward --- Know how to keep things simple and maintainable – I want to update and run this site myself once we’re done 🕒 Timeline & Budget -- This should take 3–5 working days, spread over a few weeks -- I’m happy to discuss and agree a fair rate together based on experience and scope – but expect to work within the £250–£450/day range. -- Ideally we’d start ASAP in the next couple of weeks If you're someone who gets excited by purpose-led work, storytelling, and creating space for Black queer creativity and cultural strategy – this might be the collaboration for you. To apply, send me a short note about you, with 2–3 links to websites you've designed or built. If you’ve worked with artists, creative thinkers or consultants before, even better. I'm based in London (UK), but open to working remotely with the right person. Let’s build something beautiful. ✅ Quick Skills Checklist Here’s what you’ll ideally have: -- Website design + front-end build (Squarespace or similar) -- Basic backend/site structure knowledge (CMS, domains, SEO) -- UX/UI awareness and a creative eye -- Proficiency in tools like Canva, Figma, Adobe Suite -- Experience with visual storytelling or working with creatives -- Consultative approach – collaborative, not just task-led -- Strong communicator and self-starter -- Bonus: Experience working with Black artists, storytellers or consultants
